Meal Mediator App Project
What is Meal Mediator?
Meal Mediator is a mobile app that my husband and I are building in our spare time.
Problem
My husband and I are indecisive when it comes to choosing where to go for dinner. One of us usually throws out a few options, the other eliminates one, and then we choose. This is not a perfect method by any means and it can sometimes take time to determine what’s for dinner. Since he is a developer and I am a UI/UX designer, we decided to start a project together to solve our dinner dilemma faster and easier than ever before!
Brainstorming
Our first step was to brainstorm how we could go about deciding dinner more easily. We agreed that each user should be able to pick the restaurants they are interested in from a list of restaurants in their city. The app will then compare each user’s list and determine which restaurant is the winner. After discussing the basic workflow, we also had to decide how we wanted restaurants to display. Are restaurants listed in categories? Do restaurants have tags the user can filter by? Can a user add an additional restaurant that is new in town? We spent some time discussing the different possibilities and whiteboarding our ideas.
Design
I took our initial thoughts on the workflow and our ideas we had whiteboarded and created a step by step flow using Figma. I incorporated colors we had decided upon, along with design concepts I felt strongly about for the mobile application.
Results
We are still very early in the development and design stages, and the images shared here are only iteration one of the process. We will continue to build out and design this mobile application during our free time.
Iterations
Below are images of the many iterations I have designed as we continue to develop Meal Mediator.
